1st Annual Sicilian Cucuzza Contest
Grow your own cucuzza and enter your cucuzza to be judged in two separate categories: longest and most bizzare. Prizes will be awarded in each category and a grand prize will be handed out to
the overall winner.
There will be samples of several cucuzza dishes. Recipes will be avalible for your favorites.
There is a $5 entry fee to enter your cucuzza. You may enter your cucuzza in each category. Judging will take place here at the museum on Saturday August 16, 2019.
Entries accepted from 10 am to 12 pm.
Cucuzza tasting from 12 pm to 1 pm.
Judging and winners will be announced 1 pm to 3 pm.
Cucuzza plants may be picked up at the Museum tent during the festival, March 7-10 or by contacting Larry Calmes at 985-878-6712. Plants are free to participants.

Annual Fundraiser Events:
This museum relies primarily on two yearly fundraisers. The Homemade Italian Cookie Sale is between Thanksgiving and Christmas at the museum. During the Sicilian Heritage Festival, the museum operates the artichoke and Italian cookie booth at the festival.If you would like to help, call the museum at 985-878-2772 and please leave a message.

INDEPENDENCE ITALIAN CULTURAL MUSEUM: VITAL TO THE COMMUNITY
Every March, the Independence Italian Cultural Museum hosts the royal receptions for Independence Sicilian Heritage Festival Board & Royalty, and every April, the Tickfaw Italian Festival Board & Royalty to kick off both festivals. June 2016, the new Mayoral and Town Council Inauguration took place in the museum.
